THE PALADINS

Here is a clip from one of my favorite bands The Paladins.

They played the rock-a-billy and blues scene around

Southern California since the 80's. They have not played for a

few years, singer Dave Gonzalez

has been playing with a band called

The Stone River Boys,

although they do not have the

power the Paladins had, it's pretty good stuff.

MEMORIAL SERVICES FOR GARY EDGAR

Please help speared the word about the Memorial services for Gary to any one who might went to show their respects:

Hello Friends and Family,

Just to keep you updated on services for Gary-

There will be a Surfing Memorial "Paddle Out" for Gary on this Sunday, November 15 at Orange Street in Newport Beach at 9:00 am. From Newport Blvd. take PCH north to Orange Street and make a left. Go straight out on the beach from Orange Street to the water and that is where it will be.

There will be a Rosary/Memorial Presentation for Gary at Thomas Miller Funeral Home on Thursday, November 19th, visitation starts at 5, and the Rosary/Memorial Presentation will be from 6:30-7:30 pm. The address of the funeral home is:

There will be a funeral mass for Gary on Friday, November 20th at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Corona, CA. The time has not been confirmed by the Church just yet - but we believe it will be at 11:00 am. We will post an update to the site on the exact time as soon as we know.

Thank you all for everything... for those of you who have never seen at "paddle out" it is a pretty awesome thing to watch from the beach or even participate in if you want to get wet.

RIP GARY EDGAR

Anyone who surfed the Newport Beach area in the 80's through the 90's

knew Gary and if you did not know him you could see him from a

mile away with his signature florescent wetsuits and boards.

I first meet Gary while surfing contests around southern california in the 80's. After moving to Costa Mesa in the mid 90's I started shaping out of Gary's glass shop "Clear Water Glassing". I shaped out of his glass shop for many years. He was quit the prankster and there was never a duel moment in that shop, we laughed a lot, we surfed a lot, we had our ups and downs and we built a lot of surfboards together, and though it all we became pretty good friends.

Gary lost his battle with cancer yesterday, he will be truly missed.

This Sunday I will be playing with the Juke Joint Freak Show

and three other bands to raise funds for our Friend Jay Thomas.

We go on first around 6:30, doors open at 5:00 for dinner

and it's $10.00 to get in. 100% of the door and 20%

of the money for food will go to Jay.

It's an all ages show so bring the whole family.

I have been riding this 9'10" tribute

to "Ed Roth" for a few months now.

Metal flake green, lace fade on the deck, rat fink

on the fin and model name on the

bottom in rat fink font. it looks pretty good

hanging out the back of the 56 Ford.

Ok, time for another fundraiser! On Saturday July 11, 2009 Jay's good friend Kris Stencel, tattooer and owner of White Lotus Tattoo, and his team of artist will be tattooing anchors for $20 to raise money for Jay. Their goal is to do at least 100 of them, first come first serve. They will be tattooing the same anchor on everyone that comes in. Cash only! So bring your friends and their friends and come down to get tattooed for a good cause. All proceeds will be going to the Jay Thomas Special Needs Trust. We'll see you there!

Thanks to all who showed up for the Second not so Annual Blossoming of The White Lotus. We burned though 31 cases of beer and six cases of wine, the bands were awesome (and i'm not just saying that because I am in one of them) and there were a lot of smiling faces some of which I have not seen in a long. THE BLOSSOMING OF THE WHITE LOTUS

At the show tomorrow the 12th of June

there are some good things going on.

My son Jacks third grade class has painted some really cool art

that will be sold to raise money for children in Kenya

that have been orphaned by the Aids epidemic, the people from

Surfrider will be there serving up the drinks and all the tips will be

donated to their origination also there will be

Jays Road to Recovery t-shirts sold with money going to

Jays trust and if that is not enough two bands

eight artist showing their work and about 20 surfboards on display.

Well, Mother Nature was on Jay's side.

The surf was super fun and I was able to 

put my wave hog skills into full effect.

I caught "80" waves in two hours.

ROCK TO RECOVERY

Here is something everybody needs to be apart of. 

My friend Jay Thomas suffered a spinal cord injury

on March 2nd while surfing the Huntington Pier. 

There will be a few things going on to raise money for his 

medical and living needs and this is a big one.

Tickets go on sale online on Saturday so get involved, help 

out a great person, and see some awesome bands.

My hat goes off to all the bands, the House of Blues, ticketmaster

 and a big high five to Shane for making this happen. 

In addition to this event, I will be having a surf-a-thon on May 12th 

(more info on this will be posted on this in the next few days)

and there will be a paypal account set up on Jay's blog in the 

next few days as well.
